Switch Accessible Gadgets

Dream-Media switch accessible gadgets give users the independence to take their own photographs, listen to their own music and watch their own films using a simple switch press.

We built the switch accessible interfaces to work directly with the camera, boombox and DVD player without need to make permanent modifications or connections to the equipment. Our goal is to make them simple to use but also discreet.

Switch accessible photography:

We build an in-house designed switch accessible digital camera interface that connects to a Canon PowerShot A495.

The interface "talks" with the camera to sort out the "technical stuff" such as focusing, exposure and the need for flash and frees the user get on with the fun bit; taking photographs. All the users needs to do is compose the picture, press the switch then move on to the next shot.

Switch accessible music and movies:

We produce a series of simplified switch accessible infra-red controllers for a boombox and portable DVD / CD player.

Two controllers are available which make the Sony CFD-S35CP CD Boombox switch accessible:

• Option 1: switch access for "on/off" and "play / pause"
  Option 2: switch access for "play / pause" and skip a track "forwards / backwards"

For the Sony DVP-FX740DT DVD player we produce a controller that gives the user switch access to turn the player "on / off" and "play / pause" a film or music track..
