Dream-Switch: specialist switching-Aids
Our assistive technology switching-aids are unique. Most have been developed as a result of someone asking “could you make something that solves this …” Figuring out the best technology solution can sometimes be a challenge: albeit one we enjoy.
Get in touch if you would like to discuss your needs to overcome specific switching challenges. Alternatively, read the comments of six users of the Anti-Tremor and Sustained Pressure switches in the "Domino Usability Study Report" on the downloads page.
The set-up, use and description of these four switching-aids is described in detail in the Dream-Switches section on Dream-Racer website:
| Anti-Tremor switch |
used to prevent multiple accidental switching caused by an involuntary tremor
|
| Sustained Pressure switch |
used to prevent unintended switching caused by casual or accidental touch on the switch
|
| LIP (Learning Input Prompt) switch |
used to help individuals maintain attention on a learning task
|
| Team-Switch |
used to promote co-operation and teamwork in a switching task
|
The Sustained Pressure and Switch Filter switching-aids are also available for use with environmental control systems (ECS).
Both ECS-Sustained Pressure and ECS-Switch Filter switching-aids are powered by a mains transformer with battery back-up and a “low-power” warning a LED because of the extra need for reliability by potentially vulnerable individuals. Only available on special order.
